GEORGETOWN, Friday, May 19, 2017 – Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, today, departed for Guadeloupe to attend PIO Fest, an international festival to mark the 100th year since the abolition of Indian indentureship.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo for the weekend event.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo will take part in a World Economic forum on promoting relations with the French West Indies and will be a guest at the launch of a new book on Indentured Labourers in Guadeloupe by Ernest Moutousamy, the famous French Deputy, poet and novelist of Indian origin, Prime Minister last met Professor Moutousamy in 1979 during his visit to Guadeloupe.
During his absence, the functions of the Office of the Prime Minister will be performed by Hon. Khemraj Ramjattan, Vice-President and Minister of Public Security.
