The National Exhibition Site, Sophia is bustling with preparations for Thursday’s opening of GuyExpo 2016 to be held under the theme “50 Years: Guyana means Business – Promoting Enterprise, Driving Productivity”.
Minister of Business Dominic Gaskin inspected the Sophia exhibition site yesterday, and said he was satisfied with the preparations thus far. “We would like this to be the biggest GuyExpo ever, that is what we are shooting for and I think it would be appropriate given that it is our 50th anniversary year, our jubilee year”.
This year’s exhibition, according to the GuyExpo Committee, promises to be the best ever, given it’s a part of the country’s Jubilee celebrations. The widest range of local products and services will be displayed in one venue, which will be transformed to dazzle all its visitors. According to GuyExpo Entertainment Manager, Sultan Vanderhyden, “entertainment is all set and on track for the event; patrons on the opening night are in for surprise.”
Patrons can avoid queuing up by uplifting their tickets any day prior to the event. Tickets are available at the Sophia Secretariat along with vehicle passes. Adult tickets cost $500 while children are $300 each.
Entrepreneurs and exhibitors are encouraged to attend business workshops from Friday to Sunday between 14:30 and 16:00 hrs. The venues are the National Exhibition Centre, Guyana Tourism Authority and the Guyana National Bureau of Standards.
Training for small businesses is also organised as part of this year’s event, as the Organising Committee is focusing on providing the necessary skills for small entrepreneurs.
