What the people say

Georgetown, GINA, May 21, 2007

The re-development of bauxite into a thriving industry, and one which will provide better paying jobs for Lindeners, were some of the expectations of sections of the public in Georgetown and linden in relation to the new Chinese investor BOSAI. The company recently entered the bauxite industry in Linden. Here is what some Guyanese had to say about the investment:

Sherry James

I think it’s a good initiative because Linden is an industrial area and has been this way for a long time. With the Chinese investing to keep the industry going and maintaining a good community relationship is a good initiative. Lindeners are looking forward for development and are optimistic about it.

Jerald Wittington

As long as the Chinese can provide gainful employment for the people of Linden, we will be happy because we have a situation where youths who finish secondary education have no jobs and need to be gainfully occupied. I am hoping the new company can help avert this situation.

Emerson Smith

The Linden community is optimistic about the new company and what they have to offer because we are in need of development. Residents are looking for some kind of meaningful development to generate money and live comfortably.

Anil Azeez

I think it’s a good idea that China has entered the industry and I believe that more people will be employed and live a better life.

Orin Joseph

Linden is in need of development and I believe that any initiative which seeks to achieve development for Linden is a step in the right direction.

Wanda Ontly

Bauxite was very successful years ago and I believe that it could come alive again. With proper management and knowledgeable people, I believe it could come alive again.

Mohan Sukdeo

It is a good investment that will boost the livelihood of the people in Linden and the Guyanese economy. I hope that this intervention will meet the expectations of the people of Linden.
